Coronado has many beautiful
parks and beaches. Click on each park name below for location and pictures. Our
beach guide denotes each location and available amenities.
NOTICE:
Coronado's beach is open as of June 2 from 6 a.m. to sunset for limited active and passive use, including sunbathing and relaxing with towels and chairs with members of your household unit. Group activities at the beach are not allowed. The City asks the community to heed social distancing and sanitation measures when at the beach.
The Port of San Diego has reopened San Diego Bay for recreational water sports. The reopening of the beach and bay was the first phase of a coordinated, multi-phase reopening plan by the City, other coastal cities, and state and regional agencies. City parks also have reopened to individuals sitting or eating or members of the same household group gathering for a picnic or sports. The City will be monitoring parks for compliance. Face masks are required if you are within 6 feet of others in a public setting.
The City of Coronado requires any gatherings or events, outside of your
family unit, to obtain an event permit. We are currently permitting for
wedding ceremonies and celebration of life events. Guest count must be 25
and under and no equipment or décor may be used. Please call the Coronado
rentals at (619) 522-2641 or email rentals@coronado.ca.us
for permitting questions. Our
parks guide has additional information regarding permits, dogs, restroom facilities, and playgrounds.
Permits and questions regarding Tidelands Park and Grand Caribe Shoreline Park are fielded through the San Diego Port District. Please call (619) 725-6001.
Beaches and Centennial Park Permits
All private events held on Coronado Beach that involve the use of any non-standard beach-related equipment require a use permit, regardless of the number of people attending. Equipment is defined as any item or appurtenance used to define a site or event or to facilitate a private gathering of people including but not limited to: chairs, tables, canopies, arches or arbors, stanchions, decorations, containers, podiums, audio systems, tents, umbrellas, aisle runners or floor coverings, flags, streamers, stages, fencing, and the like. Excluded from the definition of "equipment" is any item or appurtenance that is commonly understood as traditional beach gear of an individual, family or small group of persons for a typical day at the beach such as beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, coolers, small pop-up canopies and game equipment.
We do not issue permits for Central Beach on Saturday and Sunday from May 1st through September 30th. We do not issue permits anywhere during major holidays or holiday weekends. The information packet and application are below.

Beach Fire Rings
In its commitment to maintaining Coronado's pristine public beach and to ensure that it remains an affordable and accessible attraction for everyone, the City's policy regarding fires on the public beach include:
- Limiting fire materials to charcoal and clean wood, which is consistent with San Diego County Air Pollution Control District restrictions;
- Restricting fire materials to a height of 12 inches above the upper edge of the fire ring or container; and
- Requiring fire materials to be contained inside the fire ring or container.

For more information about fire rings and fires on the beach, please review the
Fires on the Beach handout. To report a problem at the beach fire rings or near any fires on the
beach, please call the Police Department non-emergency line at (619)
522-7350. For an actual emergency, dial 911.
