Curbside Service

FAQs

When is curbside service offered? How do I place holds?

Curbside pickup service is offered Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11a.m. Library patrons may place holds by searching the catalog online, or by phone during curbside hours.

How long will it take? How will I know when my items are ready for pick up?

Items will be pulled from the shelves as early as the next week day. However, due to the high volume of holds, this process may take up to (3) days. Pickup times also vary depending on item availability - for example, all copies may be currently checked out, or there may be a queue for the item. Staff will notify patrons by phone when their holds have been pulled and are ready for contact-less pickup.

How do I pick up my holds?

Once you've received a call that your items are ready for pick up, come to the library during curbside service hours and call 619-522-7390 to let us know you're here. Staff will deliver the items to your vehicle, or to the benches by the curbside pickup sign if you're on foot.

How do I safely return my library items?

Please return all library materials to the book drops. Please do not hand them to a staff member. It is important to note that after items are returned, they are quarantined for 4 days. This measure is taken to ensure the safety of patrons and employees. After the quarantine period, books are processed and returned to the shelves for other patrons to enjoy.

There is no charge for overdue books.
