What's Happening Now

Final Active Transportation Plan

After extensive research, development, and community input, the Final Active Transportation Plan is now complete. The Active Transportation Plan is a strategic document which includes a Pedestrian Master Plan, a Safe Routes to School Plan, and a Bicycle Master Plan. In the Plan, infrastructure projects and education, encouragement, and monitoring programs are recommended for further development over the upcoming years at Council's discretion.

City Council adoption
The City Council reviewed and adopted the Final Active Transportation Plan at their regular meeting on Tuesday, September 4. City Council agendas, minutes, and videos are available for review here.

Coronado Transportation Commission Review

Bicycle Advisory Committee Review

Online Questionnaire
Results from the Active Transportation Plan Online Questionnaire are now available for review. Aggregated questionnaire responses, as well as free-responses, are both posted on the Document Center page of the Active Transportation Plan website.

Public Workshop #3
The third and final public workshop for the Active Transportation Plan will be held on Wednesday, February 7 in the Winn Room of the Coronado Library from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The final set of proposed projects and programs will be available for review and final comment before the Active Transportation Plan is brought before Council for review. Drop by anytime to review projects, provide comments, and hear from the project team. Active Transportation Plan Community Workshop

The project team held a town hall-style community meeting on Wednesday, January 17, at 6 p.m. to receive comments on the proposed projects and programs for the Active Transportation Plan. Thirteen oral comments, eight letters, and three written comments were received.

Stakeholder Advisory Committee Meeting #7
On Tuesday, November 14, the Stakeholder Advisory Committee met to review the updated project proposals and to discuss the upcoming online questionnaire that will be circulated for the community to provide input. Stakeholder Advisory Committee Meeting #6
The sixth Stakeholder Advisory Committee meeting was held on Monday, August 14 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Nautilus Room at the Community Center. Please feel free to review the proposed transportation improvements here, make comments, or ask any questions you may have by contacting Allie Scrivener at ascrivener@coronado.ca.us or (619) 522-2423.

Public Workshop #2
The second Public Workshop was held on Monday, June 19, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Winn Room at the Coronado Library. Over 115 residents attended to learn about transportation improvements proposed for inclusion in the Plan, provide comments, and ask questions about the Plan. Over 80 comments were received. City staff and project consultants are currently reviewing comments and will be making updates to the proposed transportation improvements as needed. Comments are still being accepted - please contact Allie Scrivener at ascrivener@coronado.ca.us or (619) 522-2423 if you would like to make a comment or have any questions.

Stakeholder Advisory Committee Meeting #5

The fifth Stakeholder Advisory Committee meeting was held on Thursday, June 8 to review potential transportation improvements proposed for inclusion in the Active Transportation Plan.  Projects discussed at the meeting will be available for residents to review at Public Workshop #2 on June 19 at 6 p.m. in the Winn Room.

On Monday, April 10, the fourth Stakeholder Advisory Committee meeting was held to review feedback from the Public Workshop, Online Questionnaire, and Community Walk and Bike Tours and develop recommendations.

The online Interactive Issue Map has now closed. Approximately 220 comments were received during the one-month circulation period. Community Walk and Bicycle Tours

Following the Public Workshop, Coronado residents met on Saturday, February 25 at 9:30 a.m. in Spreckels Park to walk and bicycle around Coronado to point out transportation assets and concerns.  If you weren't able to attend the tours, you can still weigh in. Download and print a tour using the links below, follow the route, write down your transportation concerns, and email the form to ascrivener@coronado.ca.us or send it to 1825 Strand Way, Coronado, CA 92118  Attn: Allie Scrivener.

Public Workshop #1

The first Public Workshop was held Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Nautilus Room at the Coronado Community Center, 1845 Strand Way.  Residents shared their transportation concerns, learned about the project, and met the project team.

Stakeholder Interviews
City Staff and its consultants held stakeholder interviews from November 7 through 18 for identification of transportation issues and concerns for the Active Transportation Plan.  A report outlining key points from the interviews will be posted soon.

Stakeholder Advisory Committee Meeting #2

Stakeholder Advisory Committee
The City of Coronado has now held three Stakeholder Advisory Committee meetings for the Active Transportation Master Plan. The meetings were held on Thursday, August 25 in the Coronado Library Winn Room; Monday, November 7, in the Coronado Club Room and Boathouse, and Thursday, January 19 in the Nautilus Room of the Coronado Community Center. The purpose of the Stakeholder Advisory Committee is to provide guidance to City staff and its consultant for the development of the Active Transportation Plan, which will identify projects and recommendations to improve the City’s transportation network for pedestrians, bicyclists, and students biking or walking to school. Five stakeholder meetings and three public workshops are planned. Members of the public are invited and encouraged to attend. For more information, call (619) 522-2423.
