Solid Waste & Recycling

Environmental Services

The primary role of the Environmental Services Division is to manage the City’s integrated waste management activities, which include solid waste franchise administration and compliance with the CalRecycle requirements for reduction of waste thrown into the landfill. The City of Coronado has an exclusive franchise agreement with EDCO Disposal Corporation for solid waste disposal and recycling services. Disposal and recycling of household hazardous waste, electronic waste and universal waste are also coordinated through this division.

Solid Waste and Recycling Services

EDCO Disposal Corporation provides solid waste disposal and recycling services in the City of Coronado. These services include collection, transfer and disposal of all solid waste, recyclables and yard waste generated at all residential and commercial properties. EDCO is the only company authorized to haul solid waste in the City of Coronado.

The City's Recycling Ordinance requires all residents to recycle.  Additionally, state law requires that some commercial and multi-housing facilities participate in recycling programs. View complete Recycling Information.

Household Hazardous Waste

The purpose of the City's Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) program is to provide safe and convenient disposal of items that should not be mixed with regular trash.
