Storm Water Operations

Storm Water

The quality of Coronado's surrounding waters plays a vital part in its community lifestyle and economy. Coronado's coastline (surrounding waters and beaches) is its most important asset; as such, Coronado is committed to protecting, maintaining and enhancing its coastal resources and water quality.

The Storm Water Division is responsible for implementing and enforcing the National Pollution Distribution Elimination System (NPDES) No. CAS0109266 through CRWQCB Order No. R9-2013-0001. Several key components of Coronado's program include:
  1. Development Construction Project Review/Approval - Storm Water related
  2. Structural maintenance (storm drain line cleaning, storm pump stations, nuisance and first rain flush diverter cleaning and inspection, and video inspection);
  3. Water quality monitoring
  4. Street Sweeping;
  5. Commercial business inspections (gas stations and restaurants, etc.);
  6. Construction site inspections (perimeter control, material storage, discharges, general housekeeping);
  7. Municipal site inspections;
