Public Can Comment on Cays Park Master Plan Until Nov. 15

CORONADO, CA (October 21, 2019) -- The City held two introductory workshops last week to hear from residents about possible improvements to the City’s largest park, Coronado Cays Park.

The community still may participate in the Coronado Cays Park Master Plan Project in the following ways:

  1. Review the workshop presentation by clicking here.
  2. Take the park “use and amenity survey” to identify your preferences for the park by clicking here.
  3. Complete the “visual preference study” by clicking here.

The Coronado Cays Park is home to highly used joint-use sports fields. The irrigation system is old, inefficient and needs to be replaced. This work will disrupt the entire park.

The City Council agreed in July to retain a landscape architect to help assess the park, hold multiple public meetings and create designs for possible improvements based on public input. The first two meetings were held Wednesday and Saturday, October 16 and 19.

Two more public workshops will be held to present schematic designs for the park and obtain public comments and opinion on each. The City has placed some information on the
Fact or Fiction page on the City’s website to clarify that there are no pre-determined plans, including at the Dog Run, other than the need to replace the irrigation system.

The links to the surveys above will remain active until November 15. For more information, contact Jim Newton at (619) 522-7313 or send an email to
