City Council Actions from May 15, 2018

 

 5.        CONSENT CALENDAR: 

a.         Approval of Reading by Title and Waiver of Reading in Full of Ordinances on this Agenda.  (Pg 9) Approved.

*b.         Review and Approve that the Warrants, as Certified by the City/Agency Treasurer, are all Correct, Just, and Conform to the Approved Budgets for FY 2017-2018.  (Pg 11) Approved.

c.         Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Pressure Washing Services Contract with SOLID Property Services.  (Pg 59) The Council authorized the City Manager or designee to execute a pressure washing service contract with SOLID Property Services for an annual cost of $217,600.

d.         Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Work Order with Nasland Engineering for the Wastewater Main Replacement Program FY 16-17 Project.  (Pg 63) The Council authorized the City Manager to issue a work order with Nasland Engineering for on-call civil engineering services, for design services related to the Wastewater Main Replacement Program FY 16-17 project.

e.         Filing of the Treasurer’s Reports on Investments for the City and the Successor Agency to the Community Development Agency for the City of Coronado for the Quarter Ending March 31, 2018.  (Pg 65) The Council examined the quarterly Reports on Investments and ordered them filed.

f.          Approve the Renewal of the Coronado Commuter Ferry Contract for Fiscal Year 2018-2019 for $162,200.  (Pg 91) The Council approved the FY 2018-2019 contract with Flagship Cruises and Events and authorized the City Manager to execute the agreement with Flagship Cruises and Events and the fund transfer agreements with the San Diego Association of Governments and the Metropolitan Transit System.

g.         Authorize the City Manager to Reimburse the Navy Up to $150,000 for Services Rendered in Support of the City's Transbay Pump Station Evaluation and Repairs-Phase 1 Project.  (Pg 113) The Council authorized the City Manager to reimburse the Navy up to $150,000 for services rendered in support of the City's Transbay Pump Station Evaluation and Repairs-Phase 1 Project.

 

 8.        PUBLIC HEARINGS

a.         Public Hearing: Appeal of the Decision of the City of Coronado Planning Commission Determination of Development Standards that the Proposed Creation of a 2,052-Square-Foot Accessory Dwelling Unit with a Main Residence of 1,665 Square Feet is Inconsistent with the Provisions of Government Code Section 65852.2 and Coronado Municipal Code Section 86.56.105 on the Property Addressed as 41 Ocean Court (PC 2018-01).  (Pg 117) The Council adopted the resolution denying the appeal and upholding the Planning Commission decision on a ‘Determination of Development Standards’ that the proposed creation of a 2,052-square-foot accessory dwelling unit that is more than 50 percent of the size of the 1,665-square-foot main dwelling located within an existing single-family dwelling structure is not in conformance with the requirements of Government Code Section 65852.2 or Coronado Municipal Code Section 86.56.105 related to the maximum allowable size of an accessory dwelling Unit for the property at 41 Ocean Court in the R-1A Single Family Residential Zone.

b.         Public Hearing: Approval of a Historic Alteration Permit for a Remodel and Addition, including a Zoning Exception Request Related to Setbacks, for the Property Located at 749 J Avenue in the R-1A(E) (Single Family Residential) Zone (HAP 2018-06).  (Pg 287) The Council adopted the resolution approving a request for a Historic Alteration Permit, including an exception to zoning standards related to setbacks, for the property at 749 J Avenue in the R-1A(E) Single Family Residential Zone.” 

c.         Public Hearing:  Assessee Protest Hearing and Adoption of a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Coronado, California, Reauthorizing the Levying of Assessments During Fiscal Year 2018-19 on Four Hotel Businesses (Hotel del Coronado, Glorietta Bay Inn, Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa, and Loews Coronado Bay Resort) Within Coronado Tourism Improvement District (CTID) I and II.  (Pg 319) The Council conducted a public hearing to receive testimony regarding the City Council's reauthorization of Coronado Tourism Improvement District I and II, heard no protests, and adopted the resolution reauthorizing the levying of assessments during Fiscal Year 2018-19 on certain hotel businesses within Coronado Tourism Improvement District I and II.

 

10.       CITY COUNCIL:

b.         Consideration of a Request from Steve Johnson to Hold “92118 Day” on Friday, September 21, 2018, at Central Beach and Nearby Portions of Ocean Boulevard, Isabella and Loma Avenues, City Co-Sponsorship and City Funding of $61,000.  (Pg 327) The Council agreed to a request concerning the application for financial support, personnel and logistical support, (City co-sponsorship of $61,000 plus $26,638 in in-kind support).
