Children's & Teen
Summer Programs

Teen Events are Wednesdays at 2:30pm (2pm in summer)

Teen programs are limited to young adults in sixth through twelfth grade. Weekly programs include: Games and Grub (board games, video games, and snacks), movies, trivia, crafts, and much more. Check the Library calendar or teen blog for this month’s events.

Book Club

The Teen Book Club meets the first Tuesday of each month at 3:30pm. The Club discusses a new book each month and free copies of the next book are available at each meeting. For more information check out the teen blog.

Teen Summer Reading Club

During the summer our reading club for teens offers prizes, drawings, and special grand prizes. Teens report when they have finished a book, and may enter weekly and grand prize drawings. Grand prizes in previous years have been bicycles, iPods, Galaxy Tablets, Kindle Fire e-readers, and digital cameras. Additionally, programs are offered every Wednesday in the summer just for Teens.

Teen Collection

The Teen Library has a varied collection of material for young adults. Books, films, audiobooks, Playaways, music, magazines, and graphic novels are chosen with the tastes of teens in mind. We have a growing eBook and eAudio collection available for free through Overdrive. We also have a small non-fiction section specifically geared for teens, and copies of textbooks used by local Coronado schools.

Teen Volunteer Opportunities

All teens are welcome to join the TAB (Teen Advisory Board). This drop in event meets at 3:30pm the last Tuesday of each month during the school year (Sept-May). The TAB advises the Teen Librarian on programs, books and other materials, and any other topics pertaining to the Teen Library. Come by and let us know what you love or want to see at the Library!

Teen Tech Team

This program connects tech savvy teens to people who need help setting up or using their mobile devices. Our volunteers use their knowledge of mobile devices, including but not limited to iPhones, iPads, iPods, Kindles, and Galaxys, to earn community service hours. This is a twice monthly event and each session lasts two hours. This volunteer opportunity is limited to high school students.  Please click here to view flyer.

Junior Volunteers

The Junior Volunteers meet each Thursday at 3:15pm during the school year. The members put on plays for younger kids and help with children's programs. In the summer the Junior Volunteers run the reading club booth for the younger kids, and help with Harry Potter day. Junior Volunteers must have finished the 5th grade to join. Applications to join the Junior Volunteers are available at the Children's and Teen reference desks.
