[ARCHIVED] Cays Park Survey Conducted For Master Plan Process

The Cays Park Master Plan process is in the beginning stages and the community's active participation is vital to the project’s success. The week of May 29, 2023, the Schmidt Design Group, in partnership with True North Research, a public opinion research firm, will survey a sample selection of Coronado residents. The City is encouraging residents, if they receive a text, call, or email invite from True North Research, that they please share their opinions on how they use the park and what they might like to see in the future. The City wants to hear from residents. The survey will only take a few moments to complete but is important to inform the City's work.

True North Research utilizes stratified random sampling to ensure a representative selection of adult residents, distributed proportionately across geographic subareas of the City. The sample characteristics are monitored during data collection and adjustments made, if needed, to compensate for higher/lower response rates within key demographic subgroups. Once selected, respondents are recruited to participate in the survey using a combination of mailed letters, email, text, and telephone, depending on the contact information available for the individual.

If a resident does not receive a survey invite, there will be many other ways to participate throughout the process. Residents can share their ideas on the Cays Park Master Plan website in the coming weeks or by attending one of the numerous public workshops and community events in the summer.

AT A GLANCE

The Cays Master Plan will present a long-range vision for Cays Park that will enhance the current design and meet the needs of the community over time. The transformation of this public space will create a signature park that will serve Coronado now and into the future.

In early 2023, the City hired the renowned community park planners, Schmidt Design Group to manage the Cays Park Master Planning project. The City will promote community engagement opportunities to encourage maximum participation throughout the Master Plan process. After public workshops and a community survey have been completed, the Schmidt Design Group will work collaboratively with the City to present draft conceptual designs to the community for additional input through public outreach meetings and pop-up events.
