Coronado City Manager, Tina Friend announced the appointment of Kelsea Holian as the new City Clerk. Ms. Holian currently serves as Deputy City Clerk and officially begins her new position May 20, 2023.
“The position of City Clerk is essential to a functional and transparent municipal government,” said City Manager Friend. “Kelsea brings a high degree of professionalism and ethos of public transparency and innovation. With her experience and first-hand knowledge of Coronado, she will be an excellent public steward and will serve the City well.”
Kelsea Holian is a Certified Municipal Clerk, Master Municipal Clerk, and Certified Public Manager with over eight years of public sector experience, a majority of which has been within the City of Coronado. As the Deputy City Clerk for the City of Coronado, Ms. Holian oversaw the daily operations of the Clerk’s Office and promoted open government and transparency of information by digitizing the City’s records.
“I am honored for this opportunity to serve the City of Coronado,” Ms. Holian said. “I look forward to continuing the City Clerk’s role in connecting residents to their City government through transparency measures, access to records, participation in public meetings, and the democratic process of elections.”
Ms. Holian holds a Bachelor of Arts in Classics from San Diego State University and is currently completing her Master of Public Administration. Prior to serving as Deputy City Clerk for the City of Coronado, she worked for the City of Peoria, Arizona, where she oversaw the administration of elections, boards and commissions, and partnered with analysts and lobbyists from the Arizona League of Cities to analyze proposed legislation and its impact on municipal clerks.
Ms. Holian has spent most of her life in the San Diego area and is passionate about civic engagement and facilitating the adoption of innovative technology to modernize public administration and increase openness of government.
