As you make plans for the New Year weekend, be aware that a strong Pacific storm is expected to bring significant rain and wind on Saturday and Sunday according to the National Weather Service. The City’s Public Services Department crews will be ensuring the roads are safe and clear of debris. The crews will also monitor other critical city infrastructure throughout the rainstorm. During a storm of some significance, the City's Wastewater Division works onsite through the storm monitoring the pump stations to ensure they do not have issues, the Parks Division staff keep an eye out for trees or branches falling, and the Street Maintenance crews will be clearing storm drains and monitoring any flooding that may occur throughout the city.
Residents can pick up sandbags (self-serve) at First Street and Alameda; Fourth Street and Alameda; North Beach, and at the Cays Park, across from the Fire Station.
