Every year, accidental drownings are a leading cause of death for children ages one to five. Whenever a pool is involved, it’s important to stay vigilant year-round, with a special emphasis during the summer. Follow these ABC safety tips to prevent swimming pool accidents.
A: is for Adult Supervision. Make sure an adult is always watching the pool when children are present.
B: is for Barriers. Have at least a five-foot fence around your pool with a self-latching gate to keep children out.
C: is for CPR and classes. Get trained in CPR and enroll your children in swim classes.
Keep all toys out of pool when not in use to prevent children from being attracted to the water.
