Library Programs for Teens

Teen Events are for young adults in sixth grade through twelfth grade.

Teen Events are held on Wednesdays at 2:30 pm (in the summer 2:00)

These programs consist of activities geared for teenagers. Programs include: Games and Grub (board games and snacks), movies, video games (Wii, xBox etc.), trivia, crafts, author visits, and much more. Check the library calendar or teen blog for current events.

 Book Clubs

The teen library hosts a monthly book club. The teen book club meets the first Tuesday of each month at 3:30 pm. The club discusses a new book each month and free copies of the next month's book are available at each meeting.

 Junior Volunteers Club

The Junior Volunteers meet each Thursday at 3:15 pm during the school year. The members put on plays for younger kids and help with children's programs. In the summer the Junior Volunteers run the reading club booth for the younger kids, and help with Harry Potter day. Junior volunteers must have finished the 5th grade to join. Applications to join the Junior Volunteers are available at the Children's and Teen reference desks.

TAB

All teens are welcome to join the TAB (Teen Advisory Board). The board meets at 3:30pm the last Tuesday of each month during the school year (Sept-May). The TAB advises the teen librarian on programs, books and other materials, and any other topics pertaining to the teen library.

Teen Summer Reading Club

During the summer months a reading club for teens offers prizes, drawings, and special grand prizes. Teens report to a librarian when they have finished a book, and may enter weekly and grand prize drawings. Grand prizes in previous years have been bicycles, iPods, Galaxy Tablet's, Kindle Fire ereader and digital cameras. Also weekly Wednesday programs are offered in the summer just for Teens.

Teen Collection
The teen library has a varied collection of material for young adults. Books, films, talking books, Playaways, music, magazines, and graphic novels are all chosen with the tastes of teens in mind. In addition, we also have a small non-fiction section specifically geared for teens and copies of textbooks used by local Coronado schools.

High School Events

While most teen events are open to all students in 6th-12th grade, our high school events are limited to those in 9th-12th grade only. These events happen at 4 pm one Monday a month, and include activities like bingo, game night, and movies. Check the calendar or teen blog for information about each month's event.
