Changes to Road Markings to Improve Safety

Coronado, CA (March 7, 2013) - Coronado engineers have designed road marking changes that are expected to improve safety for vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists where State Route 75, Strand Way and the Bayshore Bikeway intersect just north of City Hall.

Starting next week, Public Services crews will begin painting yellow striping on Strand Way that will clearly define turning lanes, both right turns off the state highway onto Strand Way and right turns from Strand Way onto the state highway.

White striping will be painted to indicate the continuation of the Bayshore Bikeway to clearly delineate the path of travel for bicyclists and pedestrians.

The City of Coronado would like to remind drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians to always watch for traffic when approaching this intersection and all intersections. There have been no accidents in the area but residents suggested that travel could be made clearer with new signage. The work may take up to two weeks to complete.
