Coronado, CA (September 7, 2011) - The City of Coronado is pleased to announce it has created a Twitter account and has begun "Tweeting" news and information to update citizens, business owners, visitors and others who want to know what's going on in town.
The city's Twitter handle is @CoronadoCity.

Coronado will use the social media site to send out "Tweets" about road and bridge traffic, construction project updates, new programs, City events and beach issues. The City also will use Twitter to post information about upcoming City meetings and the ways people can interact with the City online.
This new site is part of Coronado's continuing effort to improve the level of communication and interaction with the community by providing accurate, direct, timely and interesting information using traditional and modern media outlets.
Twitter is a social-networking and microblogging service that allows users to send Tweets, short text messages no longer than 140 characters, to followers. There are more than 200 million Twitter accounts and 1 billion tweets are posted each day.
Tweets are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have subscribed to them. Users can send and receive Tweets via the Twitter website or via text messages. However, text messaging fees may apply.
