Street Rehabilitation and Sewer Main Replacement
The Street Rehabilitation and Sewer Main Replacement project will repair or replace portions of damaged sewer pipes within First Street, Second Street, and Encino Row. In addition, the project will repave the following streets: First Street (from Orange Avenue and First Street's eastern terminus); Second Street (between A Avenue and the D/Orange alley); Park Place; Star Park Circle; Aruba Bend; St. Christopher's Lane; and Kingston Court (all three legs). In addition, Encino Row will be resurfaced and receive new curb and gutter along its western edge to address minor damage from tree roots as well as small drainage issues. The construction contract for the project was awarded to Granite Construction and construction is now underway. Overall, the project is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Construction Status: The vast majority of work on streets within the Cays is complete; all that remains is the reinstallation of pavement markings. Construction is currently taking place along Encino Row, Star Park Circle, Park Place, First Street, and Second Street. Paving operations for Encino Row, Star Park Circle, and Park Place were slightly delayed by rain, but are expected to be repaved and open to traffic by November 10. Pavement rehabilitation operations along First Street began on November 7 with the removal of existing pavement. Pavement removal and replacement will be phased in an effort to accommodate at least one lane of vehicles at all times along First Street. All pavement operations are expected to be completed by November 22. Paving operations on Second Street are expected to begin on November 14 and be completed by November 18.
