Coronado to Host Port Commissioner Workshop
CORONADO, Calif. (October 28, 2013) - The City of Coronado will host a workshop for prospective candidates interested in representing the City on the San Diego Port Commission.
Coronado Port Commissioner Lou Smith will lead the workshop, which is set for 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, at the Coronado Community Center, Sand Dollar Room, 1845 Strand Way. Smith announced this month that he will not seek a second term.
Smith will discuss his position and share information about what is expected of a port commissioner. The San Diego Port Commission is responsible for harbor and port improvements and use of all of tidelands and submerged lands.
Applicants must be residents and registered voters within the City of Coronado. The term is four years and begins January 3, 2014. Applications for the position are due to the Coronado City Clerk November 22.
