Major Street Overlay Work to Begin Today

CORONADO, CA (July 8, 2013) - Construction is set to begin today on a major street overlay project in Coronado. Residents and businesses on or around Seventh Street, Soledad Place, and parts of Palm Avenue, Pine Street and Pine Court can expect traffic and parking impacts.
Parking along these streets during construction will be temporarily removed to accommodate construction crews. The scope of work includes the removal of the pavement surface by a milling machine and the installation of a layer of hot mix asphalt on top. The milling work will take about a week to complete. Many of the streets where work will be performed will be open to traffic. The only time they will be closed is when the milling and asphalt placement is being conducted. The asphalt overlay helps extend the life of the City's streets and keep the asphalt pavement looking brand new.
The work will begin on Seventh Street with the majority initially taking place between Orange and D avenues as crews replace a deteriorated sewer main before the new pavement is laid. Construction efforts also will include pedestrian ramp replacement along Seventh Street. The construction area will include the entire length of Seventh Street, Soledad Place, Pine Court, and Palm Avenue between Third and Sixth Streets, as well as Pine Street between Alder Street and Ocean Boulevard.
The work is expected to be completed by the end of September but may be done sooner.
Door hangers will be delivered to affected properties and signs will be installed a few days before traffic and parking impacts are expected. The City appreciates your patience.
