Bike Thefts-Message from Coronado PDback
A Message from the Police Department:
Lock Your Bikes!
Enjoy Coronado by bike this week but remember that bike thefts are a growing concern. To make sure you are not a victim of bicycle theft, always lock your bike to a rack using a U-lock, no matter how long you will be away from it. With the increase in people and bikes in town this Spring Break week, the bike thieves are out to get yours if you don't take the appropriate precautions. Cable locks are being cut by bike thieves. Replace your cable lock with a metal U-lock for a higher degree of safety. Remember also to lock your bike to a bike rack in a well-traveled area and under a light at night. Report suspicious people hanging around areas where bikes are parked. Bike thieves can carry bolt cutters in a backpack.
Register your bike with the National Bike Registry. Contact the Coronado Police Department during business hours, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, for a free National Bike Registry Bike license.
Enjoy Coronado by bike this week!
