City to Begin Fourth Street Sidewalk, Alley Work
Coronado, CA (February 21, 2013) - Coronado is about to begin work on a sidewalk and alley improvement project on Fourth Street between D and E avenues in response to local residents' concerns about chronic water damage in the area.
Some traffic delays and parking restrictions are expected as construction crews replace 150 feet of curb and gutter and adjacent pavement and reconstruct an alley entrance and pedestrian ramps. However, the City is working to ensure minimal impacts are felt by residents and motorists. The contractor, Portillo Concrete Inc., has 15 days to complete the project but expects to finish the work earlier.
Crews will begin work on Monday, February 25. These are the expected impacts during construction:
- Access to the alley on the south side of Fourth between D and E will be impacted for a portion of construction operations. Weekly trash pickup in the alley should not be affected.
- Street parking along the south side of Fourth in the project area will be removed for a short time as will bus service at the No. 60056 stop.
- Some street parking on E also will be removed temporarily to accommodate construction equipment.
