Coronado Begins Bradley Field Expansionback
Play Ball: Coronado Begins Bradley Field Expansion
Coronado, CA (July 17, 2012) - Work to expand the outfield fence at Bradley Field to meet new Little League standards has begun in Coronado.
Work crews delivered equipment to the site and set up traffic control and storm water pollution prevention devices. Construction is expected to be completed by August 17.
The field currently is too short to host Little
League tournaments. However, once
completed, Bradley Field will be expanded so that its outfield measures
approximately 200 feet from home plate to a transition fence that separates the
playing field from Second Street and A Avenue, allowing for tournament play. Little League season begins in the fall.
The Bradley Field Project consists of improvements to the field and repaving Second Street from A to B Avenue. The contractor, Just Construction Inc., will begin by removing the existing landscaping, building a small retaining wall along a portion of A Avenue, and replacing a small section of sidewalk, curb and gutter on Second Street.
Next, the company will begin work on the field. The field will be closed during construction. Cost for the project is $212,226.
