Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support the Coronado Public Library. The Friends group is managed by a Board elected among its members and has many hard working volunteers participating in its various activities and fundraising efforts.

The Friends have for many years organized an annual Book Fair and Sale held in April in conjunction with the Coronado Floral Association's Flower Show in Spreckels Park. The Book Fair is held on Saturday and Sunday, with a Preview Sale Friday afternoon for members, where memberships can be taken on the spot.

Tens of thousands of used books of all sorts are sold at the Book Fair, and the profits go toward supporting the Library. The Friends also operate the Second Hand Prose used book store located at the rear of the Library. Many used and recent books in good condition are sold there at moderate prices. An "honor" shop of books and magazines for sale is also located in the Library Lobby.

The financial support of the Friends of the Library helps provide a significant number of resources, programs, and activities at the Coronado Library. These include: the Children's Summer Reading Program and yearly children's activities, the Library's Summer Festival of cultural programs, Library Exhibits, concerts, computer database subscriptions, music CD collections, audio-book collections, new books, and more.

Applications for membership are available on line or at the Coronado Library. Correspondence can be addressed to: Friends of the Coronado Library, P.O. Box 180172, Coronado, CA 92178-0172.
